Next, click on “competitors” from the top navigational menu.

This will reveal a list of competitors’ websites that rank for your organic keywords.

Once you click on the “competitor” tab from the navigational menu will reveal a map of your competitor’s websites.

These are websites you’ll need to analyze their SEO and marketing strategies to see how you can outperform their SEO organic ranking.

If you scroll down the page, you’ll see a list of Google organic search top competitor’s websites that you can further explore for more SEO data.

Depending on your website’s establishment and industry, this list can be huge.

As you can see from the website Backlinko in the image below, Semrush returned a list of 17,037 competitors’ websites.

You need to note here that the domains are ranked automatically by the level of competition.

This means the more keywords two domains share in common, the higher the likelihood they will compete for a search ranking position for the same organic keyword.

You get a detailed overview of the following:

  • Backlink History – Lost and gained over time.
  • Referring Domain.
  • Industry Category Domain.
  • Anchor Text distribution.
  • Referring Domain by Authority Score.
  • Backlink Types – Image, Link, Form, Frame.
  • Top-Level Domain Distribution Data.
  • Referring Domain by Country.
  • Link Profile Distribution – Ratio of Referring Domain to Referring IP Address.
  • Similar Domain to the Analyzed Website in terms of the backlink profile.
  • Top Pages on the Websites.

  • Discover keywords that you’re not ranking for, but all other domains are getting ranking for these keywords.

  • Get a list of keywords that your website ranks better than competitors.
  • Find untapped keyword opportunities. Keywords you’re not ranking for, but your competitors do.
  • The keyword you’re ranking for, but other competitors have no ranking.
  • Keyword position or keyword ranking for your analyzed domains.

If you have multiple social media profiles in each account, you must select which account Semrush should track/manage.

In the next step, you need to enter the Domain of the competitors you’d like to track. You can add up to 20 competitor domains or company names to track.

Hit the “Start Social Media Tracker” button when you finish entering competitors to track.

Semrush will return an overview of social media reports for the selected accounts within a few seconds.

You can analyze and compare your competitors’ engagement, audience, and activities on this page vs. your own.
