Diversity makes marketing sense to discover ways to increase website traffic without SEO (search engine optimization).

But for many marketers, SEO traffic is hard to get. If you’re optimizing to get Google traffic without SEO, you could do that by publishing high-quality content regularly.

Getting organic traffic without SEO takes too long for a new website. Besides, relying on SEO traffic alone is not an ideal digital marketing best practice.

So, it’s an ideal marketing option to diversify your website traffic sources. This way, when one traffic source is not doing well or permanently closing its door on you, you have other traffic sources to lean on.

So it is essential to have many traffic sources coming to your website. And optimize your web pages for the best user experience. So, when users visit your website, they will leave with good memories.

Why Website Traffic is not Equal

Quality vs Quantity?

Which one should you be more concerned with regarding website traffic?

Of course, quality.

This is where many marketers go wrong by looking at irrelevant or vanity metrics in their analytics dashboards. They focused on increasing website traffic without SEO while paying little attention to the quality of the traffic coming to the site.

A high amount of website traffic might be great (especially if you’re selling advertising space on your website), but it won’t do much good for your investment if that traffic isn’t converting to leads and sales.

But this also depends on your blog business model.

If you’re running an advertising blog business model, converting visitors into leads and paying customers might not be a priority.

Remember this as we explore the traffic channels I will discuss in this post. Consider analyzing each traffic source to see if it will help increase your business growth and revenue.

5,000 untargeted traffic is never the same as 500 high-quality targeted traffic that buys from you and joins your mailing list.

But it depends on the case; if you only have a blog filled with content and want people to read it but not sell something, it could be acceptable to focus on numbers.

If you’re selling something online, focusing on high-quality traffic sources is better than celebrating traffic volume.

But I want to share some advice with you here, and I would be grateful if you could adhere to it.

This is it.

Don’t throw everything about organic search engine traffic into the bin. Believing you’re better off without search engine traffic.

Search is one of the top activities people perform online. According to Internet Live stats, Google alone processes over 6 billion daily search queries.

For most users buying from business websites online, a search begins their online journey.

No online business can reach its maximum sales potential without getting traffic from organic search engine results.

So, I’ll advise you to use other website traffic channels to build awareness while you’re at it. Expand your reach, make the relationship, gain loyal followers, etc.

You’ll need to leverage the opportunities that come along with all these marketing channels to increase your search engine visibility.

The good news is that you do other content marketing channels well (especially social and outreach). Your SEO traffic might also improve due to people talking and sharing your content massively.

Regardless, let’s look at how you can drive or increase website traffic without SEO stuff involved.

1. Paid Traffic

You might not like to hear this, but it is the truth and very obvious on the list.

If you need targeted website traffic fast, like you don’t want to wait for Google to send you traffic, your quick fix is to buy traffic.

That’s the sure-fire way I know guarantees to instantly send you hundreds or thousands of unique visits depending on your marketing budget, experience, and the advertising network involved.

With many online advertising agencies on the internet today, it is becoming increasingly easier to get in front of thousands of targeted audiences with little investment, as is the case with Facebook advertising.

For businesses looking to expand their reach, exploring effective strategies for advertising in the USA can provide valuable insights and opportunities.

Now, with as little as $10, you can reach hundreds of users online if your ads are well-targeted and set up correctly.

Facebook and other relatively low-cost, effective advertising agencies you can tap into right away will deliver a surge of quality paid targeted traffic to your blog.

2. Social Media Marketing

Is this too obvious?

You should’ve known social media marketing would probably come up on the list.

Social media marketing today is an integral part of our business activities. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re getting organic search engine traffic; social media marketing must be part of your content marketing mix.

I’m not here to tell you which social media platform your business should establish its presence on. But if you’re like most businesses, Facebook and Twitter seem to be the default settings these days.

But even at that, don’t just assume, “my business needs its Facebook presence.”

According to a poll by SarchEngineJournal in 2018, 62% of the Search engine Journal audience says Facebook drives the most traffic to their website. 22% voted for Twitter. 10% chose LinkedIn as their top social media channel to drive the most traffic. And 6% voted for Pinterest as their number 1 social media traffic source.

First, especially when just starting, you must discover where your ideal audience gathered the most. You must test the most significant social gathering places and see where your content fits best.

Keep an eye on your Google Analytics to measure where you’re getting the best results. Don’t confuse traffic volume with engagement.

Undoubtedly, Facebook drives the most social media traffic today. But when measuring engagement, other traffic sources might outperform better.

If you want to know how to increase website traffic without SEO, especially with social media, you should be careful about one thing. Don’t spread yourself so broadly that you get nothing from your social media marketing.

Quickly discover what works best for your blog type, stick with it, and throw away the trash.

3. Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing can be a great source of traffic spikes if done right. And it can be a potential means to increase website traffic without SEO.

Influencers are primarily social media users with many “active followers” who trust and care about what the influencer says, shares, recommends, endorses, etc.

When you have an influencer’s support to help promote your content, it could quickly go viral and drive significant traffic. Imagine if Neil Patel re-tweeted your content to his 341.8k active followers. That could be a massive earthquake of traffic to your site.

But don’t expect the traffic to last. It won’t take long to notice a dive.

Your blog will gain more exposure to the influencer audience and their networks for a moment. The hardest part is finding the right influencer to promote your content.

You need tools to make things easier. Ninja Outreach is the go-to tool for many marketers who leverage influencer marketing for business growth.

Ninja Outreach makes finding and reaching out to influencers/bloggers easier through its outreach mode. Managing multiple templates, campaigns, clients, and URLs is also a breeze with the Ninja outreach tool.

4. Perfect Your Content Headline

You must have read many articles about perfecting your content headline. Yet, you seem not to pay any, if at all, little attention to it.

A great headline is often a difference between content that falls flat on its face and a winning article.

Sure, the headline is not the only determinant factor that guarantees an article’s success, but it is the first element in your content that your potential blog readers see first.

It is a fact that out of every 100 potential readers that come in contact with your content, 80 out of these figures will only read the headline, and just 20 might consider reading the rest of the information.

No matter where your content is shared online, the first thing people see is the title, and if this title doesn’t appeal to the reader, that content doesn’t exist as far as that reader is concerned.

You can master the art of writing irresistible article headlines by following these tips:

Use numbers

Since about 50% of your content success depends on the effectiveness of its headline, you’ll need to pay careful attention to perfecting your headline formula.

According to a study by BuzzSumo from analyzing 100 million articles, the number in an article headline is one of the top reasons content goes viral.

What’s more important to know is that odd numbers perform better than even numbers. But on average, figure “10” proves to be the ultimate winner.

Make a Promise and deliver

The best headline will promise one specific benefit from reading the content. If, at a glance, the reader can’t figure out what is in it for him — be ready; the sound of cricket is coming.

No one will read your content.

Put yourself in your reader’s shoes. Look at your content headline from that perspective. Then ask yourself, “What benefits do I get from reading this content?

If the answer didn’t jump out from the page and stand bold in your face, then you need to tweak your article title around a bit.

But don’t go too crystal clear about your headline information; leave room for…

Curiosity

Yes, it would be best to be specific with your headline but don’t forget to arouse curiosity. The infinite power behind a great headline makes people want to read the rest of the information.

If you gave everything away in your headline, your readers might have no reason to read the body content because everything they need to know has been summarized in the headline.

Take, for instance, “Facebook Users spend on average 3 minutes 45 seconds on the website, Mark Says.”

Depending on who, I might have no other reason to read through the rest of the content. You already told me all that it is to know about the information.

Infuse some element of suspense, trigger curiosity, and you will win over that reader. A better way to write that headline will be…

“Why Users spend 3 minutes 45 seconds on Facebook: a data-backed Study”.

People will want to see what data, facts, and studies you’ve got for them. They want to know why people spend so much time on the website.

Your next big task is ensuring you deliver on that headline promise, “backed your claims with data.”

Word Count Matters

According to a study, eight-word article titles receive a 21% click-through rate than the average headline. Part of this is because, at eight words combined, your content headline can be well descriptive and drive home your point.

The search engines have no problem showing all words in your headline in organic search result pages. But when you go over ten words, there is this possibility that the end parts of your content headline might get truncated.

And this might harm your organic search listing click-through rate.

If you’re on WordPress, use the Yoast SEO plugin search snippet function to preview exactly how your search listing will look on the Google search engine result page before hitting the publishing button.

5. Sporadic Guest Blogging

Guest blogging, as we’ve read in many case studies about marketers leveraging their power to build a thriving online business. You won’t benefit much from it if you’re not consistent and strategic in your approach.

Guest blogging as a traffic-building tool without SEO tactics. However, it needs a lot of planning before execution.

So, you don’t waste your energy, time, and limited available resources on a website that won’t deliver the kind of results you had hoped for.

If done right, guest blogging is a double-edged sword to increase brand exposure and traffic and improve your backlinks profile, which is better for your search engine visibility.

Guest blogging is one of the best ways to increase traffic to your website without SEO, but it has to be done with thoughtfulness and planning.

We’ve read so much about the Nigerian freelance writer Bamidele Onibalusi who wrote and submitted 31 guest posts in one week. That’s an outstanding achievement going by any standard though he did that before the Google Panda updates that check low-quality content.

That’s an excellent example of what I mean by a “sporadic guest blogging” campaign. But in your case, especially in the post-Google Panda updates, attempting to write 31 articles in one week will lead to submitting mediocre content for a guest post.

Panda kicking ball

Don’t even consider if the quality is what matters most to you. I’m just citing that case study of 31 guest posts in one week to inspire you to do the needful.

And to prove that you can do better than you currently think you can.

But be careful; you don’t want to start submitting ten guest posts a week. That might send a red signal to Google. Make it natural; 2 quality in-depth articles are good enough per week for a guest post.

6. Write Shareable Content

Not all content has the firepower to move readers into sharing mode; no matter how useful, some content won’t attract share-like-an audiences.

Controversial posts kick against conventional theory or when you paint a beautiful picture in the minds of your readers. These types of articles easily attract a share-like audience.

Many theories, tools, and even case studies are published regularly online, and when you look at them from a different angle or search them, you’ll find a reason to kick against some of their principles or teachings.

If you can stand on your toes and tell that something isn’t right about it, your argument might go viral and attract thousands of shares.

The only thing to be watchful for is that you back up your arguments with solid evidence and data. Your mere opinion doesn’t count here.

Here is a data-backed post by Buffer on how to create shareable content.

7. Blog Design Matters

Websites that incorporate excellent blog design stand the best chance to attract and win the trust of potential paying customers and readers, get more pageviews, and reduce bounce rates.

Spending a few dollars on your blog design isn’t a bad idea or investment. Site design navigation is one of the reasons many customers reportedly distrust e-commerce sites. A total of 25% say website navigation is one of the reasons they abandoned their shopping cart.

What gets confused is what a great blog design is and what’s not.

It is not about the color or how beautiful your blog design is. It’s about giving users the best experience while browsing your web pages.

A good rule of thumb is to keep it clutter-free and avoid using a drop-down menu in your navigation bar. Many site users may be unaware of small things like this.

What can you say about this website?

example of a bad user experience website

Source.

Terrible! Just terrible!

I bet you’ll never return to this site after your first visit. You probably want your visitors to return to your website whenever they need something related to your blog topic.

So, give them the best experience while using your site.

Conclusion…Ways to Increase Website Traffic Without SEO

Suppose you take care of certain small things on your website. The bigger things will start to happen that will improve your overall search engine visibility and ranking.

You can drive website traffic without SEO. As I said in this post, organic search engine traffic is king when targeted traffic converts.

So don’t neglect it; by all means, you will need it.

  1. Hey Adeshokan,

Social Media Marketing is not something theoretical but if used correctly social media can become a great source of traffic that can help you establish a successful online business or blog.

The number of social media pages and users is increasing on a daily basis and while this is good because there are more potential users that will view your postings, it also makes it harder to get your posts in front of your followers.

Images, videos and other visual items such as infographics is more shareable and hence, you will drive better traffic to your source.

In my opinion – Optimizing your social media profiles are as important as optimizing your website’s SEO.

Eventually, thanks for adding these potential facts and you know these will very useful for people to get better results.

Which is the best for new marketers Bing ads or Google ads?

    1. Hi Niraj,

Bing or Google ads? Well, it depends on your marketing budget and the kind of result you’re expecting. Given all things being equal, Google ads will give better results on ROI in quick time than Bing ads.

More people use Google than they use Bing. I think this plays a role in the result you get from both advertising platforms.

      Thanks, Niraj.
