11 Best WP Rocket Free Alternatives Cache Plugins in 2026

WP Rocket is a powerful caching plugin; you’ll surely love it if you use it. However, its $59 yearly price (single license) can be the stumbling block for many beginner bloggers.

If this is you, there’s good news.

Several WP Rocket-free alternatives are not as effective as WP Rocket, but they are sufficient to deliver fast loading and excellent website performance.

So, if you’re looking for a free cache plugin or paid alternatives for WP Rocket, you will love this list.

Some of these plugins are easier to set up than WP Rocket, while others are very complex, like W3 Total Cache. So, it makes sense to go through the list, features, setup process, and ease of use before making your choices.

Let’s walk through the list of free and paid WP Rocket alternatives for caching plugins without waiting any longer.

Which is The Best WP Rocket alternative?

Before you check out the list, here are a few things to remember: I have experience using these plugins.

I have been blogging since 2012, so it is natural to have used many of these website performance optimization plugins.

I can tell you that website optimization is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Some websites require powerful caching, while others might need an image optimization solution to perform better; it all depends on your current needs. Any plugin on this list might do the job for you.

Please review the list, examine the plugin’s main functionalities, and see whether it fits your situation.

Now, let’s get into it.

1. NitroPack

NitroPack is the best caching and performance alternative solution to WP Rocket. There’s a paid plan, but the free version is sufficient for most personal blogs.

The free plan gives you essential features and tools for optimal website performance. The premium plan gives you more speed, performance, and features and tools.

However, the NitroPack premium is costly. It costs more than WP Rocket’s entry-level plan. But it is worth having the budget to pay for it.

The plan starts at $17.50 monthly and goes up to $146.67 for its top-tier Scale plan.

NitroPack pricing page showing Business, Growth, and Scale plans with monthly pricing and features.

Upon activation, NitroPack automatically enables caching, image optimization, file and code optimization, HTML minification, cache warmup, and a global CDN.

These are premium features in WP Rocket, but you get them free in NitroPack.

After optimizing with NitroPack, I achieved excellent Google Core Web Vitals results and averaged 98 mobile page speed scores across most pages.

NitroPack is the best Google Core Web Vitals optimization tool in my test. Please read my review here for more details on the test results.

Here is one of the test results.

NitroPack Top Features

  • Image optimization and lazy loading feature.
  • HTML, JavaScript, and CSS code minification.
  • Built-in global CDN services powered by Cloudflare
  • Access to exclude files and resources from optimization.
  • Lazy load iframe
  • Delay resource loading – e.g., JavaScript resources.
  • CSS and JavaScript compression.
  • Automatic enabling Gzip and Brotli compression formats.
  • Optimize old and new URLs in one click.
  • Integration with third-party services and tools.
  • Support for WebP images
  • Automatically resize and load the image correctly based on the container – Adaptive image resizing.

2. FlyingPress

FlyingPress WordPress speed optimization plugin homepage showing the headline โ€œLightning-Fast WordPress on Autopilot.โ€

FlyingPress is a powerful WordPress plugin that significantly enhances website performance. If, for performance reasons, you’re not getting WP Rocket, your best option is FlyingPress.

Though initially a bit more expensive than WP Rocket, FlyingPress excels where WP Rocket falls short.

One situation is the critical CSS optimization. Both plugins optimize critical assets above the fold; WP Rocket only acts on image files.

On its part, FlyingPress optimizes both critical image files and font assets above the fold area to load as early as possible and exclude them from lazy loading.

Like WP Rocket, FlyingPress’ primary function is to create static HTML versions of your website’s pages, a process known as caching.

By serving these pre-rendered pages instead of processing them on the fly, FlyingPress dramatically reduces server load and accelerates page load times.

Beyond caching, it offers a comprehensive suite of optimization tools like database optimization, cache preloading, link preload, CSS and JavaScript optimization, and more.

Additionally, FlyingPress employs advanced techniques such as lazy loading, which strategically delays loading non-critical elements until they are needed, and defers scripts to avoid rendering-blocking code on the page.

FlyingPress also prioritizes user experience by providing a user-friendly interface. Even those without technical expertise can easily configure the plugin to optimize their website.

FlyingPress Top Features

  • Caching – Creates static HTML files of your website’s pages for rapid page delivery.
  • Code Optimization – Minifies CSS and JavaScript, removes unused code, and reduces file size.
  • Delay JavaScript Execution – Delays the loading and execution of scripts and third-party code until the user interacts with them, such as mouse clicks/movements or screen touch on mobile devices.
  • Lazy Loading – Improves load times by deferring non-critical content (videos, images, iframe, HTML elements) until they enter the user’s viewport.
  • Critical CSS Delivery – Prioritizes essential styles to speed up rendering.
  • Database Optimization – Automate and schedule cleanups and optimise database tables.
  • CDN Integration – Through FlyCDN, which Cloudflare Enterprise powers for faster asset delivery, FlyingPress users can benefit from low latency and access to over 301 edge servers across the Cloudflare global network.
  • Performance Reports – Provides in-depth analysis of website cached pages.
  • User-Friendly Interface – Easy setup and management.
  • Compatibility – Works seamlessly with most WordPress themes, hosting, and plugins.

Note:

FlyingPress offers a 30% discount on renewal licenses. If you buy today and choose to renew after 12 months, you’ll save 30%.

3. JetPack Boost

Jetpack Boost plugin homepage showing WordPress speed optimization tool with the headline โ€œThe easiest speed optimization plugin for WordPress.โ€

Jetpack Boost offers a robust suite of performance optimization features, making it a compelling alternative to WP Rocket.

Like WP Rocket, you can optimize CSS loading by deferring non-essential styles, reducing the initial page load time.

JetPack Boost has all the essential functions you’ll expect in a WordPress cache plugin. The free plugin caches your website pages to speed up load times, reducing redundant server requests and improving performance.

You can defer non-essential JavaScript, optimize critical CSS, and ensure critical content is rendered first, enhancing the user experience.

The free JetPack Boost plugin also offers a one-click concatenation and minification for CSS and JS files. This reduces file sizes, HTTPS requests, and group scripts by the original placements.

Another excellent feature of Jetpack Boost is the image guide and image CDN. Image Guide is a helpful tool that offers valuable recommendations for optimizing images and choosing the right format, size, and compression settings.

Once active, you’ll see the Green JetPack Image Guide color indicator on an image that needs attention. Move your computer mouse closer to the Green sign in the image to reveal the optimization tips.

The image CDN (Content Delivery Network) distributes your images across multiple servers worldwide, reducing latency and improving load times for visitors in different locations.

While WP Rocket is a well-regarded performance plugin, Jetpack Boost offers a comprehensive set of features and benefits, making it a strong alternative.

All things said, you’ll get more value from Jetpack Boost Premium than its free plugin. The problem is that Jetpack Boost is more expensive than WP Rocket, even though it offers more analytics and image-optimization features.

JetPack Boost Top Features

  • Automatically regenerate critical CSS after you update your website.
  • Powerful image optimization features.
  • Global image content delivery network.
  • One-click cache, CSS, and JS optimization settings.
  • Performance history analytics.
  • WordPress expert priority support for paid users.

4. WP-Optimize

WP-Optimize is one of the best free alternatives for WP Rocket; it’s a powerful page-caching plugin.

Beyond page caching, it does image optimization, Database cleanup, and minification.

WP Optimize plugin dashboard showing minify settings for JavaScript, CSS, fonts, and cache optimization in WordPress.

You can tweak the file minification settings to fit your website requirements.

It includes most of WP Rocket’s advanced file optimization features. Post-preloading, inline, and merging of JavaScript and CSS files, optimizing Google fonts, etc.

Database cleanup is one of WP-Optimize’s core features.

Scheduling database cleanup based on your settings and deleting unused tables, spam comments, trash, unapproved comments, trackbacks, transitions, and more are some of its core features.

Enabling the cache function is one click, and that’s all you need to configure. You can select to generate a separate cache for mobile and logged-in users; set the cache lifespan, and you’re set.

The image compression feature is managed by reSmush.it, a free service.

It works well but does not optimize or act on old images on your site. It only optimizes newly added images from when the feature was activated in the plugin.

So, it may not be the best image optimization tool for everyone.

Lazyload in WP-Optimize is a premium feature not available in the free plan. One of WP Rocket’s alternative free plugins is WP-Optimize.

WP-Optimize Top Features

  • One-click page cache enabled
  • JavaScript and CSS minification
  • Font optimization
  • Image compression and lazy load (premium features)
  • Preload posts in the background
  • Gzip compressions
  • Advanced database cleanup

5. Autoptimize

Autoptimize WordPress plugin page showing the plugin banner and download button in the WordPress plugin directory.

Autoptimize and WP Rocket are popular WordPress optimization plugins. However, Autoptimize’s primary function is not caching but optimizing your website files and code.

For example, you will find the most options for aggregating inline CSS, HTML, and JavaScript files, which can significantly affect passing Google Core Web Vitals.

It also has settings for minification, combining, caching scripts and styles, and deferring files.

Autoptimize extra features, including Google Font optimization, preload/preconnects, lazy-loading images, and removing Gutenberg CSS.

However, the plugin’s primary function is to optimize CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.

It works great when combined with other cache plugins like WP Rocket, and it is an excellent alternative if you’re on a web host that restricts many popular cache plugins.

If you’re going to use WP Rocket alongside Autoptimize, WP Rocket automatically detects similar features and disables them in its plugin.

So you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues; both plugins work together harmoniously. WP Rocket and Autoptimize can be used together; you need to deactivate the same function in WP Rocket.

The Pro version gives you more tools, such as image optimisation, lazy loading, automatic CSS rules, delayed file loading, and the removal of resources from posts/pages. Etc.

Read this post on Tom’s blog for the best Autoptimize settings for your website.

Autoptimize Top Features

  • Image optimization and lazyloading
  • Automatic CSS rules creation to prevent render-blocking resources (Improves Largest Contentful Paint and First Contentful Paint)
  • Optimize Google Fonts.
  • HTML, JavaScript, and CSS files minification
  • Combine or aggregate CSS and JavaScript files
  • Integrate with CDN services and serve files from the CDN URLs.
  • Adaptive image resizing by ShortPixel
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript delay feature
  • Remove unwanted resources from the page/post or across the site to improve performance.

6. WP Fastest Cache

WP Fastest Cache WordPress plugin banner showing two cheetahs standing on a rock in a savannah landscape.

Unlike WP Rocket, WP Fastest Cache offers free and premium versions of its plugin. The premium plan starts at $49 for a single website license. But you pay once and use it for a lifetime.

No renewal costs.

It offers features similar to WP Rocket: caching, HTML minification, combining JS files to reduce the number of HTTPS requests, browser caching, disabling WordPress emoji, eliminating render-blocking JS resources, etc.

For beginners, WP Fastest Cache is pretty simple to configure. Most of the settings only require a checkbox, and you’re good.

Here is the WP Fastest cache setting page.

It works with major CDN service providers, including Cloudflare and Stackpath.

The image optimization feature is only available in the Pro plan.

However, a few settings are worth mentioning, like excluding specific files and cookie pages from optimization.

You can exclude specific user agents from page rules and optimize WordPress databases.

WP Fastest Cache exclude rules settings showing excluded pages, user agents, cookies, CSS, and JS.

The downside of WP Fastest Cache is that some of its premium features are available for free in many caching plugins.

For example, Google font optimization, inline and minification of resources, and image optimization are offered as free features in NitroPack.

WP Fastest Cache is good, but if you want more essential features in a free option, it is not the best alternative to WP Rocket.

WP Fastest Top Features

  • Create a separate cache for mobile and desktop users.
  • Automatically clear cache when posts/pages are updated.
  • Combine and minify JS, HTML, and CSS resources
  • Asynchronously load Google font.
  • Lazy load images and iframes until the user scrolls to the viewpoint.
  • Widget cache reduces the number of SQL queries
  • Database optimization and cleanup.

7. W3 Total Cache

W3 Total Cache WordPress plugin banner showing web performance optimization plugin by BoldGrid.

W3 Total Cache is a very complex plugin to set up, especially for beginners. The interface is not user-friendly; it requires patience and effort.

Cramming every feature into a single page does not help when using the general settings page.

You can quickly jump to a section via the navigation menu, but finding a specific feature can be challenging.

From the above image, you can see how cluttered the interface is. It requires endless scrolling to reach some features.

W3 Total Cache is a feature-rich plugin that provides everything you need to achieve maximum page speed and an optimal user experience.

It has features not found in many WordPress caching plugins. But if you’re not tech-savvy, configuring the W3 Total Cache can be a nightmare.

Unless you know how to get it working for your site, other plugins on this list might be a better option.

W3 Total Cache Top Features

  • One-click cache enabler
  • Built-in one-click CDN integration
  • Advanced user experience features – Lazy Loading, disable emoji, wp-embed script, jquery-migrate on the front end.
  • One-click enables the minification of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS files.
  • Cache database, browser, page, and object cache.
  • Lazy load Google Maps
  • Fragments cache for themes and plugins that use the Transient API
  • Opcode cache to improve PHP performance.
  • Database cache
  • And lots more.

From JS, HTML, and CSS optimization to SEO fixes, automatic plugin updates, logging page security, heartbeat control, caching Google Analytics code, image optimization, etc.

WebCraftic Clearfy has everything you need.

I’ve been using the plugin since 2020 and couldn’t find anything better. It works great, and the impact on website performance is noticeable immediately after you activate the plugin.

Though looking at all the features can be overwhelming initially, its dashboard is easy to navigate.

And most of the features require one-click activation. You don’t need to configure or enter additional information to get it working.

Here is the WebCraftic Clearfy dashboard as of writing.

9. WP Super Cache

WP Super Cache WordPress plugin banner with speedometer graphic representing website performance and caching.

WP Super Cache is a simple yet powerful caching plugin from the same team behind WordPress, Automattic. So it makes sense that this would be a perfect combo for a WordPress blog.

It’s not that simple.

Caching is the primary function of WP Super Cache; it offers little beyond that. There is no feature for file minification, image optimization, inline resources, etc.

The settings page is easy to navigate; upon activation, the cache is disabled, and you must turn it on to get it working.

If you must use WP Super Cache, do so with other plugins such as Autoptimize, Fast Velocity Minify, WP-Optimize, JetPack Boost, etc. You must disable the cache in the other plugin if the same is present.

You don’t need to do anything in the CDN tab if JetPack Site Accelerator is enabled on your site. The CDN feature will be disabled automatically in WP Super Cache to avoid conflicts.

Though WP Super Cache is easier to configure than W3 Total Cache, the latter is more effective, feature-rich, and a better WP Rocket-free alternative.

WP Super Cache Top Features

  • One-click advanced cache setup
  • Automatic cache rebuild
  • Cache preloading
  • Test your website cache in one click
  • Turn cache on/off for logged-in users
  • Disabled cache for specific browser cookies
  • Cache HTTP headers
  • Provide support for JetPack mobile theme and WPTouch
  • Dynamic cache
  • And more

10. LiteSpeed Cache

LiteSpeed Cache WordPress plugin banner showing LiteSpeed Cache performance optimization plugin by LiteSpeed Technologies.

LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress (LSC WP) offers many advanced website performance optimization features, including page cache, browser cache, Object Cache support, code and image optimization, and more.

It is an all-in-one WordPress plugin for speed and performance optimization with over 6 million active installations.

LSC WP-exclusive features include Edge Slide Include (ESI), caching of WordPress REST API calls, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 support, WooCommerce and bbPress support, automatic page-caching purging, etc.

But for beginners, configuring the features can be overwhelming, making the plugin not the best alternative to WP Rocket if a more straightforward configuration is your priority.

Even for advanced users, setting up the LiteSpeed cache correctly takes patience and effort.

And not to mention connecting to the QUIC.cloud server, which requires access to a domain key.

When you enable QUIC.cloud CDN, you have more features activated in the Litespeed cache, such as image optimization, CDN, database cleanup, and lots more.

LiteSpeed general features will work on any of these servers; Nginx, Litespeed, and Apache- while Litespeed exclusive features will only work on Litespeed-powered servers, OpenLitespeed, Commercial LiteSpeed, and QUIC.Cloud CDN.

Overall, LiteSpeed cache is not an ideal WP Rocket alternative if you’re looking for a solution with a simple setup process and excellent performance.

11. Fast Velocity Minify

Fast Velocity Minify WordPress plugin banner showing website speed optimization and minification for CSS and JavaScript.

This plugin does just one thing: optimizing HTML, JavaScript, and CSS files, and it’s more effective than any other plugin in that category.

It offers most of the advanced features you would expect in a file minification plugin- HTML comment cleanup, removal of emoji, merging multiple files, advanced CSS rules, Async CSS files, render blocking, and defer JS files, etc.

Fast Velocity Minify also supports Content Delivery Networks. You can integrate any CDN service provider and serve optimized URLs.

The settings page is beginner-friendly and tidy; each section is well-organized.

If you don’t understand a feature, the help tab is handy.

However, Fast Velocity Minify is not a cache plugin, so you must use it with a cache plugin to achieve maximum page speed, boost website performance, and improve Google Core Web Vitals results.

So, Fast Velocity Minify is not a replacement for WP Rocket; it is a complementary plugin to improve overall website performance.

I used Fast Velocity Minify together with NitroPack, and the result was awe-inspiring. Look at the image below.

That’s the mobile page speed score.

  1. Thank you for your post. I was just looking for an alternative plugin to create a cache. I’m used to WP Rocket, but I don’t like their pricing policy they decided to implement this year.

    1. Hi Anton,

WP Rocket’s new pricing structure did not going down well with some of their customers, not only you. Still, I would like to say that you should consider your next move carefully before ditching WP Rocket for other caching plugin. Price isn’t the only determinant factors, weight the pros and cons before moving.

However, FlyingPress or NitroPack are good options to consider if you must dump WP Rocket.

Thank you for sharing your concern.
