Here is the complete guide if you’re looking for a step-by-step tutorial to transfer hosting from WhoGoHost to Namecheap.

Fortunately, I was a customer of WhoGoHost, and currently, I host all my blogs with NameCheap. So, technically, I can guide you through the process without any hiccups.

It is a path I have worked on and successfully navigated with ease. WhoGoHost prides itself as Nigeria’s #1 hosting company. Unfortunately, there are questions concerning the quality of WhoGoHost hosting services.

You’ll find the full details in this post if you love to read about my experience with WhoGoHost. It is a mixture of a good beginning and an ugly ending.

But that’s not why you’re here, right? You’re here to move your blog to a better hosting company. So, let’s migrate your blog from WhoGoHost to Namecheap in a few easy steps.

Migrating From WhoGoHost to NameCheap

Before you begin, you must decide which Namecheap hosting plan you need. If you’re a beginner marketer, consider answering the following web hosting questions:

  • Are you migrating just one blog?
  • What’s your monthly traffic visit?
  • How much storage space do you need?
  • What hosting type do you need? Shared hosting, WordPress, VPS, dedicated, or cloud hosting?
  • What are the hosting features you already use or need at the moment?

Your answers to the above questions will help you choose the right web hosting.

You need to analyze your website, and your business needs to make the right decision. Web hosting is a critical part of your business; you must be thorough, conscious, and knowledgeable about your choice.

Once you’re through with your hosting choice, the next step is to place your order on the NameCheap website.

Shared Hosting or EasyWP WordPress Hosting?

Currently, Namecheap has Shared hosting and a WordPress cloud hosting plan. You might want to weigh the two options to see which fits your business needs perfectly.

Shared Hosting

If you have a blog with a low-traffic monthly visit or plan on hosting up to 3 blogs and more in one account, Namecheap shared hosting package is ideal.

It comes in 3 different hosting plans, each giving you access to cPanel features. A free domain name, SSL certificate, a minimum of 3 hosted domains, and free Whois guide privacy protection. It also features unmetered bandwidth and a free website builder.

If you sign up through the links on this page, you can get up to a 50% discount on your first purchase invoice.

EasyWP WordPress Hosting

If you want a hands-free solution that lets you focus on growing your blog without worrying about server-side management, try EasyWP.

It is a managed WordPress hosting solution optimized for speed and performance. It has 3-layer built-in cache functions to give your website an optimal user experience.

EasyWP does not use the traditional cPanel. Instead, it comes with a customized user dashboard that’s clean and lets you focus on what matters.

Unfortunately, you can only host one domain per EayWP hosting account. If you need to host more than one website, you must buy a separate hosting account for each domain.

That’s one drawback of EasyWP from Namecheap. You can’t host multiple domains in one hosting account.

Steps to Transfer Hosting From Whogohost to NameCheap

The steps in migrating a hosting account from WhoGohost to NameCheap are no different from other web hosting companies.

I had done it in the past when I decided to migrate this very blog you’re reading from WhoGoHost to NameCheap back in the middle of 2015.

First, ensure your current hosting account’s expiration period is active and not less than four days. This is necessary in case of any unforeseen hiccups that may require extra work days.

Next, log into your current cPanel account with WhoGoHost and use the backup wizard to back up your site. So, it contains the most current version of all your blog files and contents.

After that, you’ll need to purchase a hosting package from NameCheap (if you haven’t done so already). This hosting package must be equal to or higher in specifications than your current WhoGoHost hosting account.

For instance, if you’re on the WhoGoHost Pro Plus package with 5 add-on domains. You’ll need to purchase a hosting package from NameCheap with specifications or higher to maintain your 5 add-on domains.

After your purchase and activation of your hosting account, you’ll receive your welcome email from NameCheap via the email address you registered with.

Next, submit a transfer request form to the NameCheap hosting transfer assistant department.

You’ll need to supply the NameCheap hosting transfer assistant department with your current WhoGoHost Cpanel login details to confirm the ownership of your account and for the migration process.

On this page, you will find every detail needed to confirm your account ownership and begin migration.

You don’t need to worry about anything or be involved in the migration process; the hosting transfer assistant department will handle everything on your behalf.

Everything is done with a few clicks, from moving your blog files from your WhoGoHost cPanel account to restoring them on your new NameCheap cPanel.

After the migration process is completed and you have received the confirmation email from the NameCheap technical department, the next thing for you to do is log into your WhoGoHost client area and :

Click on my domain from the drop-down navigation menu bar and select your domain. Now click on the small arrow button beside the status green symbol. (Note: This process assumes your domain is registered with WhoGoHost)

Click “Manage NameServer” from there, and a new page will open.

Select “Use custom nameservers (enter below)” on the new open page. After that, input the NameCheap domain name server given to you in the welcome email you’d receive upon hosting account activation.

Click on “Change Nameserver” just underneath.

Managing Nameservers in WhoGoHost dashboard

Give it some time for proper DNS propagation. It may take anywhere from 0 to 24 hours for the propagation to take its full effect.

If your files are still on your WhoGoHost server and your hosting account is active, your readers might still view your content via the WhoGoHost server during this period.

Until the DNS changes take their full effect, don’t deactivate your current WhoGoHost hosting account.

Not because of anything else but because your site visitors can still view your blog via the WhoGoHost server while your new nameserver is warming up.

Once you confirm the DNS changes have full effect, you can request a hosting account cancellation request from WhoGoHost customer services.

Though from experience, they’re not going to do this happily. But you can ignore it and just forget about the cancellation thing entirely.

Most importantly, your blog files and content are now hosted on another server.

  6. Hi
My name is Raji and the main reason I’m transferring my website from Garanntor to Namecheap is because of a slow admin dashboard.
When I’m editing pages with elementor, or composing a blog post, I will have to wait tens of seconds before the page starts processing.
Once I log out of my admin account, the blog loads as fast as lightning.

Do you think the slow admin dashboard is due to my hosting (Garanntors LH Nano)

I’m planning to move to Namecheap Stellar and I hope it’s better.

Have you ever experienced the issue of a slow admin dashboard?

What did you do to resolve it?

Is it worth switching hosts for?

    Your answers are appreciated

    1. Hi, Layemi,

First, in terms of hosting services quality comparison, I believe NameCheap is way ahead of Garanntor. That been said, your case might not be due to hosting services or server performance, I think it has more to do with installed plugins compatibility.

Deactivate plugins one by one and test your editor after each plugin deactivation. I believe you will find the culprit. Let me know if you need more help.

      Thanks, Layemi.

  7. Hi, My name is Frances. Thanks a lot for your detailed guide. Please I got an error message when i tried the last step which was changing the name server on whogohost. Here is the error message i received ´An issue was encountered while updating the domain nameservers. Please contact support´

    1. Hi Frances,

You need to change the Nameserver in your domain name registrar to that Namecheap. Namecheap has a detailed answer to that you can find here.
