Before we dive into today’s StudioPress Parallax Theme Pro review, it is important that we first define what is parallax theme? This become necessary to do has there are lots of people confused and don’t understand what it really means to say a theme or web page has Parallax effect.
What is Parallax?
Parallax is the word used in describing the view/standing point of an object when view from two possible angles or position.
According to WikiPedia using the needle in a vehicle speedometer as an example:
When viewed from directly in front, the speed may show exactly 60; but when viewed from the passenger seat the needle may appear to show a slightly different speed, due to the angle of viewing.
What Does Parallax Scrolling Effect Mean in Web Design?
According to Elegant Themes:
In web design, parallax is really just a “special effect”. An optical illusion achieved by animating multiple layers of background and foreground images at different speeds to give the impression of depth. The resulting variations in a user’s point of view as they scroll past these images is what we call “the parallax scrolling effect.
With that solved and out of the way…..let’s proceed further to our review of the day – Parallax WordPress Theme Pro from StudioPress.
My StudioPress Parallax Theme Pro Review
There has been a lot of hype surrounding this theme from StudioPress since inception, but whether the hype is justified by the quality of the theme or not is a question that has left many jaw hanging in the balance.
Here are some reasons for you to discover if the hype is justified, if the theme is good for your next blog project, how it will benefits you and let you achieve your goals.
First thing to know is this, I have used and experience Parallax theme in action on this very blog in the past for about six months before moving to prose theme and now, using News Pro theme also from StudioPress on the same blog.
*As at when I “last used” Parallax Theme, I encounter some CSS styling issues and had to revert back to Prose theme. Though, I think it has to do with bugs in the theme cascading style sheet.*
So I have practical experience with Parallax theme and could give you first-hand review on it.
Parallax Theme Pro from StudioPress is no doubt one of the most beautiful and advanced business child theme running on Genesis Framework studiopress are really proud of, I loved the theme too especially the full widget areas home page that lets you do anything you can think of.
One of the benefit of using Parallax theme on your blog is that it hold the attention of your readers longer than most regular web design because of is parallax scrolling effect that allows background images to move faster than the text on the actual page itself, this allow reader’s attention to be drawn to what the content on the page says.
As the text on the page moves slower than the background scrolling effect, the text gets more attention, visibility and possibly could get more reading time.
This could also lead to higher click-through rate, an increase in conversation, lower bounce rate etc.
Like all child theme from Studiopress, Parallax is made of CSS3 and HTML5 mark up which makes it to run smoothly with the latest features that are being added to WordPress themes regularly.
