To have better understanding of this post you’re reading, is best you read my last post on how I made $205 from affiliate marketing by writing few blog posts to promote the affiliate products first. If you have already done so, let’s move on with our discussion.
In most things we do in life….timing is very important and crucial to the overall success of it.
This post will be divided into four sections, so you can easily scroll to the part that most interest you.
- Discovering a market.
- Choosing the right affiliate product.
- Writing and promoting your posts.
Discovering a market
Before you embark on the journey to make money from affiliate marketing, it’s important you already discover a hungry market that is ready to pay for the said product you wanted to promote.
In fact, and in most cases, it is this already discovered market that will and should prompt you to pick a product to promote. You don’t want to start hard selling or throwing your product at everyone’s face.
Don’t markets an affiliate product just because you “think” your readers will buy it. In this business, thinking alone will not yield the require result. You have think, observe, research, evaluate, analyze and take what data that best relevant to your targeted market.
And use this data as the base for your affiliate marketing campaign.
There are several ways to discover an existing market for your intending affiliate product:
Keyword research. Forum. Social media places. Popular market place. Trending topic. Events and occasion. Breaking news etc.
If you go this route, making sales won’t be that difficult…..because you already discovered and know your targeted market. In my next follow up post dedicate to this topic, I will be explaining how each one of the above mentioned point can best be utilized to make the most out of your affiliate marketing campaign.
Choosing the Right Affiliate Products
The second step towards make money from affiliate marketing is by choosing the right affiliate product for your type of audience. Get this wrong, and everything else that follow will become complete waste of time, energy and resources.
Like I said in my last post, is all up to you to choose what best fit your audience, but remember……..don’t think or imagine what might be your audience needs. Many people don’t buy what they need, they buy what they want.
And the easiest way to make money online is by selling to people what they want. The problem is…..how do you know what these people really want?
The best ways to do this is by doing some simple Google keyword search, visit popular market place, forums, ask your readers’ questions, through emails, etc.
But if I were you, I’ll use the search engine to discover what these people want to buy…since the search engine is mostly the very place these people make their final decision on whether to buy or not to buy the product.
You will discover and understand what these audiences are really hungry to have. Something they are dying to have and ready to bring out their wallet to make payment for it.
To get more and better understanding on how to use the search engine to carry out your keyword research and promote your product or post, read my article on how to use Google and Facebook to drive maximum traffic.
Writing your post
After all said and done; this is where the real work began.
If this aspect fail to grab the attention of your potential customers or your content doesn’t address his wants, then nothing else would do the magic.
In the case of my four blog posts that made those two sales that amount to $205 in affiliate commissions…….two of the post were writing as normal blog post while the other two were written as a review post.
In these review posts, I didn’t speak for or against SEO power Suite; I tried to be neutral and honest in my review. And before I decide to write the posts…..I carried out research on the said product to see what other content marketers are saying about it.
And also visit their home page to see what it looks like and if possible, customer’s testimonies. I visited few other SEO products review websites to see what they’ve written on the product.
Why do I have to do all these?
The answer is simple.
I don’t want to promote a product people don’t buy or something most people have already condemned to be as bad as a rotten egg. It will be easier to make sales with a product that has already gain the trust and acceptance of the public.
My research prove SEO power suites as one of the top five best-selling SEO product, then I know the product worth marketing and there are chances of making sales.
Remember not to write just one post and depend on FREE marketing channels for promotions, it won’t work out that way. In fact, what separate you from being a professional blogger and just a blogger is the amount of “effective resources” you can put into making things work your way.
What I mean by professional blogger is someone who earns his living by managing blog(s), and just a blogger is someone who just manages blog but not making a living out of it.
When you start making money enough to care for your real life responsibilities from blogging then blogging has become your profession; but if not, blogging is still a hobby.
Don’t think I wrote those four blog posts and share them on social media places and made those two sales, NO!
There are some kind of paid promotions that went into promoting these posts on Facebook; I use Facebook post boost option so well and seriously I love it. Those posts were targeted to relevant potential customers on Facebook and the good part of it is that I didn’t spend much to make those sales.
So far promoting those posts (only two posts was promoted), I spent a total of $13 and making $205 from such investment isn’t a bad business.
There are other several methods of promoting blog post that could lead to positive result; you can as well read my guest post on Enstine Muki’s money making blog were I reveal some effective marketing channels that you can use to market your valuable blog post.
On purpose I leave this to come at the close end of this article.
I would say timing contributed to those sales of SEO PowerSuite, because I manage to promote that product at a time link-assistant (SEO Power-Suite’s Owners) were running promos for the product. The promo was very made to the public by the product owners and this in itself has already created enough buzz around the blogosphere.
Tapping into an existing marketing plan was all I need to nail it.
All others affiliate marketers too are writing and creating the buzz around, so with all these going on already, it makes selling a lot easier.
