This guide is aim at beginners blogger who want to learn how to start a blog and make money online blogging professionally, living full-time on it, earning decent money.
The problem most new bloggers have is the belief that you can start a blog today and by tomorrow morning, filling your bank account with cash. Drop that into the trash box.
First, what is a blog ?
A blog is a direct equivalent of your off-line offices, your shop, your store, your company, your library, your shelves, e.t.c that is in the market place (the internet).
A blog is your online virtual office, design for the transaction of business, point of contact, social gathering, expression of thoughts, and the list is just endless.
With that out-of-the-way, start treating your blog like you would for your off-line office or company. Internet business is a serious business that need you to give your 100%.
Starting A blog.
Your first step to starting a blog professionally and making money from it, is by choosing the right niche for your blog. The topic at which you’re going to be blogging about. This is the most crucial aspect in blogging.
But right before that, there is one important question you need to ask yourself, and that is “Why do you want to start a blog”. Your honest answer to this question will provide an easy answer to what your blog topic will be.
Once you can give a clear answer to that, your blog topic is already known to you. The reason you had wanted to start a blog should indirectly or directly be your blog topic.
Your blog topic has to be something you’re passionate about and at the same time marketable. Something that is acceptable and have large followers. Something lots of people are interested in it.
It can be music, fashion, politics, sports, wrestling, nature, science, anything you can think of and you’re interested in. Just make sure its something you can conveniently write about or you’re willing to know more about at present.
After choosing your blog topic, there is more to it, you have to look at it from different angles and possibilities. Assuming your blog topic is sports, you can choose to narrow it down to a more targeted audience than just blogging about sports in general.
Take for instance, sports consist of many games, we have football, tennis, basketball, hockey, lawn tennis, baseball, beach ball, volleyball, cricket, e.t.c. Now you can choose to blog about a game i.e football, this will allow you to concentrate and have more focus.
You can even go a step further, i.e, football is a major game that has lots of clubs and followers. You can choose to narrow your topic to a particular club side and its followers. This is ideal if you could find a club with great history and very large followers.
This is a very good way to start your blogging career as it gives you less work to do and you know your audience right from the word “GO”.
Once you’re done with that, you will have to choose a name for your blog. The name at which your blog will be accessed on the internet. This will be the address at which people will find your blog on the world-wide-web. Traditionally, this name is called domain name.
Now, you will have to do a little home work here, this is where your search engine optimization visibility start. Don’t worry about what is search engine optimization for now. But, in choosing your domain name, just think about those words or phrases people might want to search your niche with.
Make sure a part of what your blog topic is about, is part of your domain name. i.e if you’re blogging about Arsenal fc, Your domain name could be……………
The trick here is that, your blog is now optimized for the keyword “Arsenal fc”. This will boost your search engine ranking and visibility for that particular keyword. As a starter, is not ideal to go with your name as your domain name. This won’t help you, established yourself first, build followers, gain authority and trust, when you attain that height, anything can go, like Seith Godin.
Choosing Your Blog Platform And Hosting.
Now that you got your domain name ready with you, is now time to get it hosted somewhere on the internet. Don’t get it twisted, if you follow my example of what is a blog, you will quickly understand what is hosting in lay man’s term.
Hosting can be compared to a parcel of land that you acquire in other to have your shop, office space build on it. In other words, is a space you rent on the internet for your blog to be built on it. Without it, your blog won’t be visible on the internet.
There are many hosting companies around this days, most of them allow you to register your domain name and have it hosted with them. I recommend you choose whogohost for your hosting and domain name registration. Yes, am an affiliate, but that is not the reason behind the recommendation, I have this very blog hosted with them and ever since, never has there any major issues, and if there is, their support center are well at it.
(Make sure you register through that link ;))
Once you’re done with that, you will be giving a control panel which is normally called “cpanel”. This is where you will install your blogging platform. The software at which you will build your blog with.

1. Google Adsense.
This is the most common way or method webmasters used in monetizing their blog for big profit. But, in reality, you need quality targeted traffic to start making decent income from Google Adsense program. Is a pay-per-click adword program.
You sign-up for Google Adsense program and if you’re lucky to get approved, get your ads code and paste it into your web page. That it is.
2. Affiliate Program.
This is a very great way to start making real money from your blog. Affiliate marketing can be a life time business if you know how to go about it. With affiliate marketing, you don’t have to create the product yourself, handle customer care or refund and all marketing issues.

3. Direct Advert Placement.
When you start receiving good amount of traffic, you can approach advertiser directly and ask them to purchased ads space on your blog from you directly without middle man.
Anything from 500-1000 unique visitors a day is enough to approach advertiser for advert placement on your blog. The beauty of this is that you charged what you want and feel is ok for you and keep the money.
4. Selling Of Information Product.
This is very big, if you know how.
You can start selling e-book on your blog, mp3, video, audio cds e.t.c. You can package part of your blog post that you find good enough to package as an e-book. Information marketing is a big business on the internet.
