How Not To Blog – 5 Reasons Bloggers Never Build Successful Blogs

Every where I go, I see bloggers talking about how to blog with less or no attention to how not to blog. Which in my opinion is best we talked about those things a beginner blogger should avoid.

Maybe is better to start that way, so they don’t get their hands burn, and hopefully they quickly accept it, than fighting it.

Without much ado, here we go.

1. Don’t Blog For Money.

If all you want is money, then you may never achieve it.

Focus all your attention in what you’re doing and find a reason to enjoy doing it. If you blog mainly for the money, you may not blog beyond six month at most, as its certain that you may likely not make any significant income before this time, if any, penny.

2. Don’t Consuming Too Many Information.

This one is critical and a very difficult one to master. I assume you’re here to learn how not to blog?

If I guess right, then pay close attention to this advice, there are lots of information out there about how to make money from blogging, but yet, only tiny fraction of those who choose to blog ended up making money from it. Why?

Let me use this as a case study, there are many plugins in WordPress that ease the pain of finding pictures to use in your blog post. You don’t have to learn how to use all of them or even know them all.

Find one with four star review or above and learn how to use it, is that simple?

Don’t even try testing all the available plugins meant for that purpose, else, you’re going to get overloaded with hundreds of option and at the end, get confused.

As you read all about making money from the internet, you should ask yourself, what is my purpose of reading this in the first place. If your answer can’t find any relationship with what you’re reading and your primary target, then you’re not heading toward achieving your aim.

With the advent of social media sites and lots of information out there about making money from the net, is very easy to get lost in the jungle.

Here is a couple of ways to help you stay focused and motivated :

#1. Have a to-do list.

Having a to-do list will help you identify and focus on a task than handling multiple task at the same time and trying to find information on how to solve them all simultaneously.

Identify which task is a major problem now, focus on finding the required information to solve it and nothing more. When you lay your hands on it, test and prove that it works before moving on to the next one.

#2. Keep Notes.

Keep notes of valuable places you find interesting and useful to the success of your goal, will make searching and navigating through the breath and length of the internet precise and for quick future references.

I have in my quest to become one of the top bloggers on the internet, bookmark some of the top blogs in my industry for future references, reading and commenting. I don’t need to read every blogs in my industry to learn how to build successful blog, I only need to emulate one or two bloggers that are consider successful bloggers already.

#3. Don’t Just Read.

Identify your weaknesses and look for resource materials that solve the  problem, digest it and practicalize the solutions outlined in it. Reading just for the sake of keeping up to date or stay informed will eventually lead to information overload.

3. Do not Blog About Make Money Blogging.

Is okay to do this if you have an in dept knowledge on the subject, if this is not the case, look for something you’re likely more comfortable with and enjoy writing about.

The making money blogging niche is a vital subject which its audience are very conscious of what they are giving. They expect every of your advice and tips should result into something meaningful and put smile on their face.

To achieve this yourself must have made money from blogging and know exactly how to make others achieve it, otherwise you will quickly lose the trust and respect of your loyal readers.

You need to give proof of earnings and this can only comes from people who have genuinely made money from blogging. Making money from blogging is not the way you might think it is.

#4. Don’t Start Another Blog When You’ve Not Grow One.

This is a plague on the internet, I have seen countless of bloggers whom have just started doing great with a blog, then suddenly, something very destructive happen. He went out creating another blog, just right the time is first blog is about moving up the ladder therefore, channel their limited effort and output into two separate task.

If you plan on building business with your blog, then consider stay long enough with a blog to give it the chance to survive or not.

5. Don’t Think Blogging Is Easy.

I called this the “BIG” lie of the century, many newbie bloggers were sold the big lie that you can plug into a blog today and work for about 2 to 3 hours a day, then the net morning having thousand of $$$ in your bank account.

  • If you’re not ready to work hard day and night, blogging is not for you.
  • If you’re not ready to work without been paid for over six months, blogging is not for you.
  • If you’re not ready to invest time and money into it, blogging is not for you.
  • If you’re not ready to learn new things, blogging is not for you.
  • If you hate writing on daily basis, blogging is not for you.

I could go on and on counting why you should not blog or reason blogging may not be the ideal work at home for you. But lets keep it simple and short.

Now your turn to Talk………….

How do you teach your student how to blog or how not to blog? We like to hear how you do your thing.
